It is a love story, but it is nowhere close to “love story” (read cheesy Bollywood love story). It is not about young, fresh, hot and beautiful faces. Rather, it is the exact opposite of that. Yet, it is GOLD. I repeat, the trailer of Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor’s upcoming move – 102 Not Out is absolute GOLD.
Young and sexy actors at pinnacle of youth and in cheesy on-screen filmy love (that people like me loath at) is what defines most of Bollywood movies. But Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor’s upcoming movie 102 Not Out is nothing of the sort – and to be honest, it is an indescribable relief to see something of the kind being released. The movie revolves about the two actors being old, it is all about old age, but trust me, you will want to watch the movie. Well, Amitabh-Rishi is a classic duo and they’ve worked together in movies like Kabhie Kabhie, Amar Akbar Anthony, Naseeb, Coolie and Ajooba – but it’s been 27 years since they acted together on screen. They are old. But they still have amazing chemistry and both ace actors seem very comfortable with each other, on screen.
Tagged as the most unusual father-son story, the film 102 Not Out is based on playwright Saumya Joshi’s popular Gujarati play of the same name. Furthermore, the film is directed by Umesh Shukla – the director of epic film OMG – Oh My God! – expectations are high. The trailer released recently gives out an idea of the unusual father-son story seems to be a quirky, side-splitting comedy. From the trailer, Bachchan is seen as a fun-loving friendly 102-year-old father, while Kapoor appears as a 75-year-old boring son. Interesting?
Here’s more – when the storyline of the film was narrated to Bachchan and Kapoor, they both took the offer and agreed to act in the film within just 10 minutes. They understood that the essence of the film is so good, beautiful and playful, also with lot of depth and emotions, they liked it all. There’s a scene in the trailer that the 102-year-old father was coercing his son to write a love letter to his wife. Oh and here’s the biggest catch from the unusual film, which makes it so unusual – Bachchan is seen trying to admit his son to an old-age home to break a world record! Okay, hold on till May 4, 2018.
