Yesterday was the 149th birth anniversary of India’s father or nation Mahatma Gandhi. While India commenced the two-year-long celebration to glorify 150 years of Gandhian era, the Indian missions had arranged LED video projections highlighting Bapu’s life and philosophy at 120 locations all over the world – including the world famous Burj Al Khalifa of Dubai and Piccadilly Circus of United Kingdom.

Paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered floral tributes at Rajghat in Delhi. But beyond the one day celebration, India commenced the two-year-long 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Gandhi. Commemorating the Gandhian era, India will rededicate to the values inherited by Gandhiji for peace, fraternity, harmony and inclusive national development.

While the Indian embassies all over world planned to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti by projecting the storyline of Bappu’s life through LED videos at landmarks all over the world. The Ministry of External Affairs had instructed a total of 120 Indian missions across the world to play LED video projections highlighting Bapu’s life and philosophy including the iconic Burj Khalifa, Piccadilly Circus of UK, Buda Castle in Budapest, the Welt Museum of Belgium Prambanan Temple in Indonesia, Museo de Arte in Peru, the Palazzo Senatorio in Rome and many others.

The film played at all 120 locations displayed the key moments of Mahatma Gandhi’s life, his work, his approach of non-violence to fight powerful unjust authorities, inspiring quotes, everyday sayings, discourses and initiatives. This is the beginning of the celebrations resonating 150 years of Gandhi and his celebrating his work for India and his legacy for humanity.
