The Indian Army launched an initiative called ‘Kashmir Super-40’ to help the students of Valley live their dreams of studying in the elite Indian Institute of Technology (IITs). Of the Super-40 batch, 28 youth successfully cracked the IIT JEE Mains 2017 which is 78% success rate and it is now one of the best IIT coaching centres in India.

The Indian Army partnered with Centre for Social Responsibility and Learning (CSRL) and Petronet LNG and have been conducting the coaching classes for IIT entrance exams since 2013 in Srinagar. This year’s performance was the best with 26 boys and 2 girls who successfully cracked the IIT JEE Mains. The students who passed the exams include nine from South Kashmir, ten from North Kashmir, seven from Kargil/Ladakh and two from the Jammu region.

Candidates from Jammu and Kashmir are selected on the basis of entrance exams and interview conducted at various colleges throughout the state in the month of April or May and the selected candidates are provided free of cost coaching and accommodation facilities sponsored by the CSR initiative and the Petronet LNG. This was the Indian Army’s major step towards providing a platform to the talented students from underprivileged backgrounds or are unable to study because of the terror-struck situation in the state.

Despite numerous challenges caused because of internal disturbance in Kashmir, the coaching was undertaken as per stipulated schedule by the Army. And encouraged by the astounding result, the Army immediately increased the batch size of the coaching for this year to 50 students!

Apart from the IITs, the students of Kashmir Super-40 have successfully excelled in various other entrance examinations throughout the country. So the Army is protecting the nation at the cost of their lives and basically everything as well as helping the local students for great career of the doom-struck state.
