Tata Motors have launched one of its most awaited compact SUV car, the Tata Nexon, which will aggressively compete against Maruti Suzuki’s Brezza and Ford EcoSport, with a much lower price tag of Rs 5.85 lakh.

Compact SUV market in India is already pretty crowded with popular ones like Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Honda BR-V, Hyundai Creta – to name just a few. The crowded market seemed to have no significant room for similar car that could rock the market, unless it had something out-of-the-box to woo the customers. So Tata Motors made a late entre with a step forward to crack open the lucrative Indian car market with launch of its first compact SUV – Tata Nexon.

The major factor that could make Nexon stand out and probably may have already entrenched Brezza and EcoSport would be its price tag starting from Rs 5.85 lakh to Rs 9.45 lakh for its top variant. This means, Nexon is priced about Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 lower as compared to the price of Brezza and almost Rs 1 lakh lower than EcoSport – despite having a boost in features like floating touch screens and rear air-condition vents. However, in the end it will be Nexon’s performance that would make it stand out, but for starters, this is an aggressive marketing plan from Tata Motors, targeting economic – personal and family car buyers rather than picky car geeks.

Nexon is Tata’s 4th model that has been designed based on ‘Impact Design’ philosophy, which Tata claims of it bringing together global and contemporary design with advance technology and features for the ones who would like to express themselves with a unique style of their own. The car will come with four variants to choose from: XM, XT, and XZ+ and is available in both petrol and diesel models; summing up to a total of 8 models. Powered with a 1.5L turbocharged Revotorq engine, Nexon is one of the most powerful among the existing compact SUVs in India. It has been extensively designed in a sporty coupe style with a reasonable mileage of 17kph. Let’s see how well Tata Motor’s new compact SUV will do a hullabaloo for the company.
