Today, on February 21, veteran actor Kamal Haasan embarked on his political journey from Madurai’s Rameshwaram as he will soon launch his own political party after visiting late President A P J Abdul Kalam’s residence and his memorial.
Tamilian actor Kamal Haasan has been actively taking interest in Indian politics since quite some time, however, he has now officially initiated his political journey with the launch of his own political party. Wednesday morning, the actor visited former President APJ Abdul Kalam’s residence and also addressed members of the fishermen community. “My political journey begins today,” said Haasan. The actor, who is scheduled to launch his party in in Madurai in the evening, could not visit the school where Kalam had studied. Apart from the visit to Kalam’s residence, Haasan had also met the leaders of the fishermen association at Rameswaram.
The 62-year-old’s supporters raised slogans “Hail Varungala Muthalvere (Hail future chief minister)”, “Hail Kamal Haasan” as he arrived in his native Ramanathapuram district in southern Tamil Nadu. Next up, Haasan is scheduled to address public meetings in Ramanathapuram, Manamadurai and Paramakud in Madurai. During press release, Kamal said, “he met the leaders of the fishermen association at Rameswaram.” Interacting with the fishermen association Kamal Haasan said, “I want to get introduced to all you leaders. I wanted to introduce my press friends to you guys.”
Understanding his responsibilities, he said, “By entering politics, my responsibilities have increased. Anyone from any profession can enter politics. Everyone with intent and passion can come into politics.” Talking about selecting February 21 as the date to make the announcement, Kamal Haasan said, “I chose February 21 to make this announcement because today is International Mother Language Day, hence I chose today.”
