While the Indian users still struggle for having strong 4G availability, Reliance Jio has topped in the 4G coverage as its network is available in 98.8% of locations across the country as per latest speed tests; but, Bharti Airtel still remains the top in providing the fastest internet network for 2018 in India.
As per the country-level network survey conducted by Ookla for third and fourth quarter of 2018, titled as “Analyzing India’s 4G Availability: Including a Look at the 15 Largest Cities”, Reliance Jio has topped for its 4G availability among all Indian telcos, whereas Sunil Mittal-driven Bharti Airtel remains the fastest network. The study was conducted by Ookla across India between July and December of 2018, using data from over 250 million samples on almost 600,000 devices.
As per the report, Jio 4G network is available in massive 98.8 percent locations across India – followed by Airtel with 90 percent, Vodafone India with 84.6 percent and Idea Cellular with 82.8 percent. In terms of general non-4G cellular network availability, Reliance Jio’s general availability was again at its best, with 99.3 percent of locations being covered, Airtel running close on the second place with 99.1 percent, followed closely by Vodafone at 99.0 percent and Idea at 98.9 percent all over India.
While Jio may have ruled the telecom market in terms of cellular and 4G network availability, Airtel was the winner in terms of speed for both cellular service as well as 4G internet network. As per the speed tests conducted as a “combined measure of download and upload speed that incorporates several tiers of performance”, Airtel bagged 11.23 MBPS for 4G and 10.34 MBPS for cellular network. Followed by Vodafone with 9.13 MBPS 4G and 8.19 MBPS regular network – leaving Jio far behind with 7.11 MBPS score for both networks.
