Akshay Kumar is known for his love the country and his respect for men in uniform which can often be seen in quite a lot of his movies and his recent gesture towards helping the jawans of country is definitely praiseworthy.
On Saturday, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar was present at the Teen Murti Bhawan in New Delhi for the launch of an anthem for the non-profit funding website called ‘Bharat ke Veer’. The website is an initiative which facilitates people to transfer money directly to the bank accounts of the next kin of any martyred Indian soldier. At the launch event, prominent personalities like Home Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and singer Kailash Kher were present besides the actor – among many others. All these special guests urged and promoted to do just one thing – to donate.
However, the most significant one was from Akshay Kumar as he surprises everyone by getting on the stage at launch and said, “Let us start now. am willing to dance, sing, do anything that you’d like me to, but let us collect the maximum for the welfare of the families of those who sacrificed their lives for us.” This simple impromptu appeal was so effective to the audience that few corporates sitting in the audience raised their hands and started announcing their donations. Within a matter of few minutes, Rs 12.93 crores were raised as fund for the ‘Bharat ke Veer’ initiative.
Akshay Kumar has been in the headlines for the second time for his goodwill gestures. The first one was when he postponed the release date of his film ‘PadMan’ to avoid clash release and let the controversial film ‘Padmaavat’ release solo on January 25. However, his selfless contribution for raising funds for the families of those who selflessly sacrificed their lives for the nation and for us all – it is remarkable. These goodwill gestures from famous personalities and actors are rare, and these are those which make them more likeable, off screen.
