We all know Anshu Jamsenpa, right? She recently made it to the summit of Mount Everest for fourth time and she had hit the headlines by becoming the only Indian women to achieve the feat four times. But Anshu seems to have be unstoppable as she climbed the Everest once again that is twice within 5 days! Outrageous!
Anshu Jamsenpa, the Indian climber on Sunday reached the summit of Mount Everest for the second time in less than a week setting a women’s record for a double ascent of the world’s highest mountain in a single season. Her ascent of the world’s tallest peak in the Himalayas at 7.45 am on Sunday was her fifth overall, and the second after May 16. The lady is 32 years old and is mother of two, but she has been climbing mountains since she was very young and she keeps coming back to it over and over again.
Jamsenpa broke the Guinness record held by Nepali climber Chhurim Sherpa, who in 2012 become the first woman to scale the peak twice in a season by climbing it within just five days! What she is doing sounds unbelievable but that is not the only record she holds. It was a world record for Anshu – two double ascents by a woman and fastest double ascent of Mt Everest by a woman.
Tsering Wange, Jamsenpa’s husband and the president of the Arunachal Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Association said that she began the double ascent expedition on Friday and reached by Sunday morning and also said that she is in good health even after the second feat. She also received blessings from Dalai Lama back in Guwahati. She is definitely a bit tired but she’s heading down and is expected to reach on Monday.
