New Delhi: Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan was on Thursday allocated additional duty of Environment Ministry, because of the unexpected passing of Anil Madhav Dave.

President Pranab Mukherjee, as advised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has instructed that Harsh Vardhan, Cabinet Minister will probably be designated the charge of this Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in addition to his leaving portfolios, a press release issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan said.

Anil Madhav Dave is an incumbent minister of Environment, passed away yesterday morning while complaining about his suffering. He was then transferred to AIIMS but did not survive. He was 60 years old.

Anil was associated RSS since he was young and was shortlisted for Rajya Sabha in 2009 and again renominated for same in the second term. He was committed to conserving Narmada River as a part of his travels.

A longtime RSS activist, Dr Harsh Vardhan was appointed as the health minister when the Narendra Modi government came to power in 2014, a post he held for 5 months.
