After being fired with flaks about the revelation that Apple purposefully deteriorates battery performance and health in older versions of iPhones so that they buy newer phones – Apple has introduced iOS update 11.3 which gives out users the control over phone’s battery performance.
Apple had faced a lot of criticism after reports had revealed that the company purposefully slowed down older iPhones to save battery life after they get old. However, to regain trust of users, Apple has introduced a new operation system update – iOS 11.3 which allows users to control battery performance and health – and not automatically slow down phones. Which means, users will now be able to see the power management feature that automatically and dynamically manages the performance of the device to prevent sudden shutdown which was introduced since iOS 10.2.1 and give users an option to turn it off.
The users who care more about a ‘speedy’ iPhone, they can simply turn off the power control – which may shorten the battery life; or those who care for longer battery life can keep the feature on. Besides this, the highlight of 11.3 update is that it adds a new feature that shows battery health of any iPhone or iPad and provides recommendations if battery needs to be serviced or not. The feature is intended to provide users the option and flexibility to decide and choose the performance and battery health of their iPhones. This feature will be available iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
However, the update is not all about battery – with iOS 11.3, apps can now deliver AR experience that uses vertical surfaces like walls or doors to horizontal surfaces like tables and chairs, and more accurately map to irregularly shaped surfaces like circular tables. There’s a special treat for all iPhone X users who can now enjoy even more Animoji with lion, bear, dragon or a skull. Then, there is a new “Business Chat” feature lets users communicate directly with businesses right within the Messages app; however it will be available in Beta version only in US as of now. And finally, Apple Music will now streams music videos uninterrupted by ads. So that’s about it of iOS 11.3.
