After being recently unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018, BMW has finally launched the third generation of its benchmark SUV – the BMW X3 in India with a starting price tag of Rs 49.99 lakh.
BMW India Private Limited launched the new third generation X3 in India on Thursday, which is an SUV but BMW likes to call it an SAV – that is, a Sports Activity Vehicle. The new BMW X3 was unveiled at the recent Auto Expo 2018 and is now launched in India at a starting price of Rs 49.9 lakh. Being one of bestselling X range of the BMW, the X3 comes with sharper, edgier and much bolder avatar – which keeps getting better with each generation, so the new X3 will surely be gorgeous elegance. BMW says that the new X3 will be even more striking with its dynamic design language, powerful yet efficient drive systems, and luxurious equipment.
The third generation X3 comes in two variants – the Expedition which is the base model and is priced at Rs 49.9 lakh and a new Luxury Line design scheme, priced Rs 56.7 lakh. Both the cars will come with the signature kidney grill which got even bigger in the new generation, and added headlamps which brings out the elegance in the SUV. At the rear, LED taillights, low-slung roof spoiler and exhaust tailpipes on both sides in chrome add freshness. So what is the difference between these two models? Well, BMW says that the new Luxury Line comes with “elegant contours and luxurious features, through its fine design elements of high-gloss chrome.”
Both variants of the new BMW X3 are powered by two-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that develops 190hp of power and a maximum torque of 400Nm mated to eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. With the option of just diesel engine in both variants, X3 accelerate from zero to 100kmph in just 8 seconds. BMW plans to introduce the petrol engine version range of the third generation X3 later this year; but currently, BMW X3 goes up against a number of SUVs, including Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Land Rover Discovery Sport and Volvo XC60.
