E-commerce giants like Amazon and Flipkart are hiring top listed celebrities to promote their brands among the huge fan following of celebrities.

The ever-increasing competition in the e-commerce space has compelled top e-commerce companies like Amazon and Flipkart hire ‘A list’ celebrities to widen their customer base in India. Amazon has hired star celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt and Salman Khan to promote Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Prime Day to be held on July 16 and 17. To name a few others, Rani Mukerji, Varun Dhawan and Salman Khan feature in Amazon prime ad titled ‘keep that smile on this Prime Day’ for promoting Prime Video and Prime Day.

Amazon India has also made arrangements to display its video ads on big screens in malls across metro cities showing Amitabh Bachchan promoting the brand. It is remarkable that India is one of the biggest markets for Amazon prime with over a few million subscribers. Not just that, over the period of past one year the amount of prime customers has doubled in India which in itself is a sign of significant success of the company.

On the other hand, its biggest competitor Flipkart has signed Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor as the brand ambassadors of the company. Flipkart has created short ad films featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor who are seen offering fashion advice in the ads. Flipkart chief marketing officer Shoumyan Biswas said, “Bollywood celebrities are one of the leading inspirations for fashion and so it was natural to associate with two biggest fashion icons as brand ambassadors for Flipkart Fashion. The campaign reiterates Flipkart as a fashion destination.” Now, the Flipkart Fashion campaign is being advertised across different mediums like television, digital, print and outdoor. Ranbir Kapoor, who happens to be one of the highest paid celebrities in India, has reportedly entered into a multi-year endorsement deal with Flipkart.
