After a bold regal role in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali magnum opus Padmaavat, Deepika Padukone is finally up for a new movie, in a new character and an absolutely new avatar. The film is supposedly India’s first ever female superhero franchise – a sci-fi tale, and Deepika will play the first Indian female superhero.
Deepika has always reached out to versatile roles and continuously picks roles that stun away the audience in most entertaining ways. The Bollywood actress favours massive, bold and indomitable roles – be it Ram Leela or Bajirao Mastani or Padmaavat, she has managed to make a presence on the silver screen, pushing herself to the top in the film industry. Putting the rumours of her not having any film in her kitty to rest, it is reported that Deepika has finally signed a big movie, and she is up for something massive – a superhero film.
If reports are to be believed to be in talks for signing up to play Bollywood’s first female superhero and Deepika will be the first Indian female actress to play a superhero role. The catch is that the superhero film is apparently modelled based on Hollywood’s Gal Gadot-starrer Wonder Woman franchise, an ostensibly a dynamic, sci-fi tale indeed. Two instalments of the franchise are already being planned, and it will be one of the most expensive films in the history of Bollywood – breaking records of Padmaavat and Bahubali.
For Deepika, this will be a challenging new avatar, but Deepika will have various action scenes which fans haven’t seen her doing before. The untitled film will be produced by Fox Star and will picture Deepika pretty much as the Wonder Woman played by Gal Gadot, of India. In the film, Deepika will wear a specially tailored costume that will need help to be worn. This movie will be fun to watch especially after we have watched films like ‘Krrish’, and ‘Flying Jatt’, but this will be a female superhero and this looks like their first step in the right direction.
