A Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast was released on March 17 and seems like it is spell-bounding the box offices all over the world including India. The remake of the 1991 animated magical fairy-tale starred by Emma Watson has surpassed the records of Logan and Kong Skull Island.
The Hollywood movie starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens has collected a total of Rs 6.67 crore nett in its first weekend in India. In USA, the film has pulled in a record of USD 63.8 million on day one and is projected to make up to USD 170 million over the weekend to land in the top ten openings of all time.
Beauty and the Beast will prove to be the biggest break for Emma Watson after playing the role of Hermione Granger in Harry Potter. Beauty and the beast has collected almost three times the revenues by Cinderella, Moana and Zootopia.
The movie has stunning graphics and action scenes which are counter balanced by a delicate fairy-tale story line, making the film appropriate and enjoyable for kids and the action catching up the adults till the end. Needless to mention the teenage female fan following of fairy tales and Emma Watson. All in all, the movie targets all age groups and with good reviews, it seems to hit smash the box offices.
