Piyush Goyal will be gifting 6 new local trains to Mumbaikars of which 28 will be on Central Railway while 32 on Western Railway.

The new local train services will begin from October month including the 14 services on Harbour Railway and 14 on Trans -Harbour Route. Although, no new services announced for Central Railway due to maintained traffic. Piyush Goyal all set to unveil this service very soon.

Earlier, Piyush Goyal started local train services between CSMT and Kalyan on the mainline as soon as he became Railway Minister. Railway authorities had prepared a plan to start 12 services before of Thane and Kalyan stations by October, but are now rethinking it. They have hinted to launch in November.

The main aim for starting services is to increase capacity and reduce overcrowding. Since Western & Central Railway are facing this problem over the years, most of services are expected to be added in peak hours. It will cover 7 AM to 11 AM and 6 PM to 10 PM. Implementation of services will be carried out under the guidance of Ministry of Railway.

On another side, due to various casualties took place in recent times, Ministry is concerned with this problem over to all and have taken help from various officials to reduce overcrowding and get maximum benefits to commuters.

The railway minister is expected to officially change the name of Elphinstone Road station to Prabhadevi station, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. Consequently, a series of escalators, elevators on both lines and a foundation stone for a statue of Maratha warrior king Shivaji will be the key focus for Ministry.
