NRC Seva Kendra (NSK) has published the final draft of the National Register Citizens (NRC) for the residents of Assam on Monday and all applicants can view their names in the list entering primary government. Clearing doubts, Union Minister Rajnath Singh suggested that NRC list is still impartial and is not the final list yet.

The National Register Citizens Seva Kendra published the final draft for Assam NRC on Monday as an update to the first draft published in January 2018 that left more than half of the state’s citizens with just 1.9 crore names. Perhaps, the new list consists of 3.29 crore names registered from the state of Assam, yet a staggering 40 lakh people have been left out. The list basically defines who is citizen of India and those who are not included in the list will not be considered to be Indian citizens and can face deportation if they are unable to prove their identity as original nationals of India.

The exclusion of 40 lakh people in the NRC final draft has led to panic among the people of Assam and opposition parties wondering whether the exclusion is meant to identify and isolate people who don’t vote for the party. Clearing all doubts, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday that the released list was first complete draft of the NRC but it is not the final list, and urged the opposition not to politicise it. However, it is unclear of whether the remaining 40 lakh people will be able to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha election in 2019 or not.
