The La Liga 2017 has finally ended and Real Madrid made their way to grab the prestigious Spanish championship trophy for 33rd time. Thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema which made is possible for Madrid to triumph over Malaga with 2-0.
It’s been five years, the last time Madrid won the Spanish championship was way back in 2012. Cristiano Ronaldo made a perfect start off for Madrid just two minutes before his mate Karim’s close range finish goal sealed the title in their favour within 10 minutes off the second half. Real, who had only needed a point, now face Juventus in the Champions League final looking to complete a double. Madrid beat Barcelona by three points despite the fact that the Catalans won over Eibar by 4-2 and won the La Liga 2017 title. The goal scored by Ronaldo was his 40th goal of the season.
Barcelona had won the last two titles and were expecting to beat the Real with their goal weaponry against the Eibar but Madrid had Ronaldo on their pack for a clean victory. If Real beat Juventus in Cardiff, they will become the first team to successfully defend the Champions League – with Zidane having won the tournament six months into the job last summer.
Zinedine Zidane, the coach of Madrid said, “It is the happiest day of my professional life by a distance. It was very important [to win the league]. It was a lot of years without winning it and we knew that the league is everything. For Real Madrid, because it is the best club in the world, we have to return with this league title.” Praising Ronaldo, Zidane said that he has always made a difference. Well he has and let’s shriek Hala Madrid!
