The smart speaker, Google home is capable of so many things from placing calls, giving reminders and news, settings event reminders, alarams and what not. Adding one more to it’s features, the google home is now able to process in Hindi language.
Yes you read it right! This Thursday Google announced that Google home will now be capable of responding to Hindi language and that too with unique Indian accent and context. Sounds great, isn’t it? The Hindi supporting system however, was already present on the smartphone google assistant, as we all know. In a blog post, Google wrote, “Beginning today, people in India can now talk to their Assistant on Google Home in Hindi. Our team has been hard at work teaching the Assistant on Google Home to understand Hindi, and it will now respond to you with uniquely Indian contexts. The Assistant is already available in Hindi on your smartphone, and now you can also get hands-free help at home in Hindi to get things done in your world.”
However, this is just an official announcement by the company, but the device was spotted supporting Hindi language since last week.
How to set Hindi as a default language in your Google home:
- Open Google home app (on your smartphone)
- Tap the Account icon at the lower-right corner
- Select Settings.
- Navigate to the Assistant tab
- Select Languages
- Replace English with Hindi.
And voila! Hindi is now your primary language. However, you can also set Hindi as your secondary language.
- Select Add a language
- Set Hindi as your secondary language.
Now, all you have to do is say “Ok Google” to start a conversation with Assistant on Google Home. Once you set Hindi as the primary language, you won’t be able to use English alongside on the Google Home. As Purvi Shah, the technical program manager of Google assistant says, “Our team has been hard at work teaching the Assistant on Google Home to understand Hindi, and it will now respond to you with uniquely Indian contexts… The Assistant is already available in Hindi on your smartphone, and now you can also get hands-free help at home in Hindi to get things done in your world.”
The device has been useful by all means to the users, may it be for hearing songs or news, setting a reminder, making planners, and above all it provides the luxury of operating your device without even touching it! But as the company assures us, this is just the beginning of a new era in technology, and Google will definitely keep surprising us every now and then!
