Delhi: North Delhi Municipal Corporation has taken many steps to find the public toilet with more ease for Delhiites. They have started using Google Maps to point the nearest public toilet.

Details of restrooms and toilets in Karol Bagh Zone are already placed on Google Maps. The civic agency has 1,163 urinals, 499 community toilet complexes, 41 women toilets and 318 waterless urinals in six zones – City, Karol Bagh, Chandni Chowk, Civil Lines, Rohini and Narela.

“We had asked the officials to visit all the 210 toilet complexes in this zone and obtain their exact latitude and longitude details for sharing it on Google. It took them three days to upload the information and now anyone can find their locations on smartphones, using GPS,” said Nitin Pramod, deputy commissioner, Karol Bagh Zone.

Full details of the loos can be obtained by typing the name of the road where the person is travelling. MCD has also focused to cleanliness of various other campuses and complexes to promote Clean India Mission. The sanitation team of Karol Bagh Zone has started preparing the details of public toilets in the remaining five zones for uploading them on Google Maps.

Not only searching of public toilet, but it will also give the current status and condition of loos in North Delhi, according to the senior official from Department of Environment Management Services.

Nearby restaurants and cafes were the best alternative for Delhi public to access public toilet as finding it is a challenging task till date. Google Maps will play vital role to locate the public toilet.

The only question left is due to poor maintenance, people of Delhi avoids public toilet and prefer some other options. MCD has considered this case and has started taking certain steps to increase the number of public toilets and maintain the cleanliness in it.
