October 8th is celebrated as the official foundation day of the Indian Air Force each year, and today is the 86th Air Force Day that is being commemorated with a grand parades held by the armed wing across its bases all over India.
Celebrating the 86th foundation day in its own style, the Indian Air Force has arranged a number of parades showcasing the prowess of the aerial force and displaying its strength and ferocity. However, India Air Force’s beast – MiG-29 remained at the centre of celebration of Air Force Day as it received an upgrade ahead of the big day that gives a mega booster to India’s aerial defence. After the upgrade, the Russia-made MiG-29 will be capable of conducting mid-air refuelling, carrying latest missiles and launching multi-dimensional attacks from opponents.
The celebration of the 86th Indian Air Force Day began with a grand parade held at the Air Force station in Hindan, Ghaziabad. The parade-cum- investiture was reviewed by Air Chief Marshal B S Dhanoa and hosted a number of air displays and acrobatics performed by the Air Force’s various aircraft, including Jaguar, Bison, MiG-29, Mirage-2000 and SU-30 MKI fighter jets and Rudra helicopters. And after the air show, visitors were allowed to view the aircrafts, helicopters, radars and equipment that are the part of the force.
Among the chief guest visitors at the Hindan parade were Honorary Group Captain Sachin Tendulkar with Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa and Army Chief General Bipin Singh Rawat, who watched the flyby. And national leaders like President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others congratulated; whereas salutes from all over the country poured in for the air warriors and their families on Air Force Day.
