Considered to be the most premium travel experiences, cruises are hot-pot favourites among travellers; and now India has launched its own first ever cruise service between Mumbai to Goa through the first domestic cruise vessel named Angriya.
Cruising along the Goan beaches has become a reality as Mumbai-Goa cruise’s first sea trial started on Wednesday. The most premium transportation by far between Mumbai and Goa was launched as India’s first domestic cruise service started off from Mumbai on a test run on Wednesday, 5 pm and reached Panaji, Goa after 15 hours i.e. Thursday morning. The cruise is named Angriya run by Sea Eagle Cruises is expected to return to Mumbai on Sunday, depending on the weather conditions in sea. Interestingly, Angriya is named after Admiral Kanhoj Angre, the first notable admiral of the Maratha navy and the great coral reef, the Angria bank.
Luxurious Angriya can accommodate 400 passengers and will be operated on every alternate day either from Mumbai or Goa. While we don’t know when the service will open up for common people, operator said that cruise service can only be operated when the weather is clear, so it can be expected to start between October and May. Once the service is open for passengers, travellers can take Angriya at Victoria Dock, Mazgaon and the intermediate halts on this journey are likely to be at Dighi (Raigad), Dhabol and Jaigad (Ratnagiri), Vijaydurg and Malvan (Sindhudurg) and Panaji. This will be the first passenger ship between Mumbai and Goa after 1991 when two ships—Konkan Shakti and Konkan Sevak were in operation and took 24 hours of journey.
Getting down to business, there will be a total of seven categories of accommodation available for Angriya and the ticket fares will start from Rs 7000- 7500. Now this might be the costliest medium among all but the premium pricing for the cruise is for an array of five star services associated with a luxury cruise vessel. With the basic ticket, you get two meals and a brunch, the use of a swimming pool located on the open deck, and a view of the Konkan coastline. The prices among all seven categories will vary depending on room category and size, but everyone can access restaurants, bars, coffee shops and other amenities like infinity pool, recreation room and state of art lounge among others. It will be a luxurious retreat, making the journey more beautiful than the destination.
