Intel’s worst kept secret and world’s best gaming processor – the 9th generation Intel Core i9 processor is officially globally launched in New York today, consisting the entire processor line-up.
Unless you have been living under a rock in the tech world, most of us knew this was coming – the launch of Intel’s 9th Generation desktop CPU line-up. But, it has now been officially launched by the company today, at New York – bringing the entire Intel Core i9 processor line-up available globally. And as expected, all the leaks about the “world’s best gaming processor” have proven accurate – except the little variation in pricing. The new processor chips are priced a little lower than projected in all the pre-launch leaks.
So, the i9 series consists of the Core i9-9900K, Core i7-9700K and Core i5-9600K that are all based on Intel’s good ‘ol 14nm++ process of manufacturing that is being used since introduction of 8th generation. Technically speaking, touted as the “best gaming processor in the world” consists of eight cores and 16 threads clocked at a minimum 3.6GHz and a maximum of 5GHz single-core turbo frequency, and 16 MB Intel “Smart Cache”. Besides these, Intel has also launched 9th Gen Core i7 and Core i5 processors that come with hardware fixes for the Meltdown Variant 3 and L1 Terminal Fault issues.
The i9 line-up might be highlighted as a “gaming processor”, but Intel believes that no matter if it is “a gamer, a creator or an expert using the most advanced workstation applications possible”, the new Intel processor will deliver a stable and balanced platform with capabilities that “exceed their needs”. About the pocket burn, the Core i9-9900K is priced at $488 (approximately Rs 36,000), the Core i7-9700K will cost $373 (approximately Rs 28,000) and the Core i5-9600K is priced at $262 (approximately Rs 19,000) – which is quite reasonable considering the capabilities these babies are jam-packed with. And the pre-orders of the 9th Gen Intel Core processors and Intel Z390 chipset motherboards began from Monday.
