Hyundai has just launched its freshly baked all new Hyundai Verna 2017 in India to rattle down the Maruti-Honda dominated mid-size sedans in India.

The Korean car manufacturer may be India’s second largest auto major and car exporter, but when it comes to mid-sized sedans, well Hyundai seems to be a gazillion-years behind Honda and Maruti cars, in terms of sales of course. Verna has been around in India, but they weren’t sold like hot cakes – so to make them sell like hot cakes, Hyundai has launched a new gen-Verna with all the bells and whistles.  The new car has ditched its old 1.4 litre engine and traded it for 1.6 litre petrol and diesel mills, for better performance output.

With the new 1.6 litre petrol engine churns out 121 bhp and 151 Nm of peak torque, the diesel engine makes 126 bhp and 260 Nm of torque. For added driving comfort, the engines will be mated with a six-speed automatic torque converter unit; and of course you always have the six-speed manual transmission option. The Verna 2017 will be available in four new variants including Hyundai Verna E, Hyundai Verna EX, Hyundai Verna SX, and Hyundai Verna SX (O). The base variant will be priced at Rs 7.99 lakh, the superior most variant will cost buyers some Rs 12.39 lakh.

Highlighted interior features of new Verna include – e lectric sunroof, ventilated front seats, rear AC vents, rear adjustable head rest, rear curtain, cruise control, 3.5-inch MID, engine start/stop button, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink and 6-speaker surround sound system by Arkamys. Whereas with basic safety features like – six airbags, impact sensing auto door unlock, cornering lamps, reverse parking camera and rear parking sensors, the car is a real deal for that price tag.
