Dismissing the latest rumours of possibly contesting for Lok Sabha elections, Kareena Kapoor Khan cleared out that she has no plans to join politics and that her focus “is and only will be movies”.

A recent NDTV report featuring Bhopal Congress leader Yogendra Singh Chauhan’s letter to Rahul Gandhi mentioned that Kareena Kapoor could be the perfect candidate to contest for Bhopal in upcoming Lok Sabha election. The letter quoted that “If Kareena Kapoor fights from Bhopal, we can hope to snatch the seat long held by the BJP” and winning back the taste of victory in the parliamentary seat that has not been done since 1984. Other two Congress leaders, Guddu Chouhan and Anas Khan had also reportedly suggested Kareena’s name for candidacy in the election.

Considering the huge line-up of actor-turned politicians like Madhuri Dixit, Sunny Deol, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher, Hema Malini to name just a few – the persuasion of political career for actors is not uncommon in India. This lead to speculations about Congress leaders are trying to woo the actress to contest for the elections and Kareena’s possible chances of trying out a future in politics. However, Kapoor was spontaneous on clarifying that there was no truth in the reports and rumours of her joining politics. She also cleared that she was never approached by anyone for the same, and her “focus is and only will be movies”.

Having said that, the actress is now busy with promoting her upcoming film Good News staring other actors including Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani in lead roles. This film will be the reunion of Akshay and Kareena in same film after nine years. Good News just got a new release date and will now be released on September 6th, instead of its previous release date in July.
