Kochi: Kochi metro train is making debut today for Kochites people which connect the Palarivattom to Pathadipalam and back. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag it off today at 10.35 AM with the major state and union dignitaries.

The newly inaugurated metro train will be controlled by Yogesh Saini and Sumit Kumar will be the loco pilot’s cabin crew to pilot PM Modi from Palarivattom to Pathadipalam and return back. Pawan Kumar and Anil Kumar will be other two teammates who will extend support to the loco pilots from the train controller’s cabins.

The design of metro train is something like it will cover the lifestyle of Kochi people and the different places of state. It will represent the beauty of Kochi and various religious places there to promote Kerala tourism. In addition, it will canvas the village life of Kerala, especially ‘Pappanji’ of Kochi, monuments, festivals and other spectacular sights from Kerala.

PM Modi will be accompanied by Governor justice (retd) P Sathasivam, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, minister for urban development (MoUD) Venkaiah Naidu, MoUD secretary, Rajiv Gouba and Kerala chief secretary Nalini Netto. Advisor to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation E Sreedharan and Kochi Metro Rail Ltd managing director Elias George will accompany them.

Although, there was rush on yesterday at the Metro site where an employee of Metro train patiently answered the question of general public and its operation in future. Commandos were observed inspecting the various areas of city, especially public transport area to maintain the security of today’s event.

Ahead of Metro inauguration, school, institutions and colleges will observe holiday on account of this event. The trains will start its journey from Aluva and Palarivattom stations simultaneously and will finish the day’s ride at 10 pm in Aluva.
