The US is ahead enough on the hybrid technology used in four-wheelers, especially when it comes to public service. Initially, there are many electric cars on the roads of America specially design for police to serve better. But, this time it has been a hybrid concept for police cars, designed by FORD.
The most iconic car manufacturer in the world, FORD has unveiled ‘pursuit rated’ hybrid car which will be making the first appearance in Los Angeles Police Department. The car is named as Ford Police Responder Hybrid Sedan, a step above the Ford Fusion upon which it is based on suspension, tires, interior, and suspension.
The car will be powered by four-cylinder of 2.0 litre fetched with electric motors and 1.4-kilowatt rechargeable battery. It will cover the speed of 60 mph in just 5.8 seconds which is the same or better than many other production car police variants, including the Crown Victoria.
Undoubtedly, it will get much higher average due to hybrid technology installed in it, which the EPA estimates at around 38 miles per gallon, or about twice the fuel efficiency considering current law enforcement workhorse.
LAPD has is going to purchase 300 of Ford’s hybrid and electric plug-in vehicles by 2020.
