Although Hockey experts expressed surprise move, Marijne is all set to join Men Hockey Team by September 20. Harendra Singh is appointed as High Performance Specialist Coach for senior women’s team, considering his role for World Cup winning junior.

Sjoerd Marijne is on Europe tour at present with women’s team. The decisions were announced by newly-appointed Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on his official twitter page.

“Current Chief Coach of Indian Senior Women Hockey Team, Mr Waltherus Marijne, will take over as Chief Coach of Indian Senior Men Hockey Team,” Rathore tweeted.

According to the officials, Marijne and Harendra Singh have been allotted a tenure till the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Marijne was hot favourite for this role earlier but picture did not clear his orders as there were many other pending tasks to clear the way for him.

43-old Hockeyman from Holand is fresher for National Men’s team. HI and SAI convinced him finally to take this role.

Oltmans, who was asked for vacant the seat for his low performance, started his contribution as High Performance Director 4 years ago. He became coach in 2015, a successor to Paul van Ass.
