After getting marred down from by immense criticism from the very beginning, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus film ‘Padmavati’, starred by Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor might receive a green signal from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for public display.

Padmavati was scheduled to launch on December 1, 2017, but its release was put on hold due to innumerable protesting and opposition from the Rajput community. The Rajput Karni Sena were against the release of Padmavati as they alleged that the film tampered with historical facts and which was dishonourable to their ‘mother-like’ queen of Chittor, known as Rani Padmini in her times. The violent protests had forced the makers of Padmavati to postpone the film’s release date. Following this, the CBFC denied to provide certificate to the film claiming that as per a new rule, the filmmakers are expected to provide film by 68 days before screening.

After a stoney silence, there is finally some development and it is good news for the filmmakers as Padmavati is expected to get a certificate from the CBFC today and the producers may decide when to release the film, which was postponed indefinitely from December 1. But seems like things might settle down for Padmavati because if we go with reports, the film will be given a green signal by CBFC today. Once the certificates are received, the filmmakers will decide when to release Padmavati, which is said to be the most expensive Hindi film, surpassing the expenses made over Baahubali.

Some reports suggest that if approval is received, Padmavati might be launched in early weeks of January 2018. Whereas some claim that the film will be released only in February next year. This indicates that the issue, which began because there were allegations that the film featured love scenes between Deepika’s character Rani Padmini and Ranveer’s character Alauddin Khilji. However, Bhansali and his team cleared off that there is no such scene, song or dream sequence between Rani Padmavati and Allaudin Khilji and the rumours were a misunderstanding. Let’s see what is next up in this real-life dramatic sequence over the release of Padmavati.
