A political black comedy storyline and Rajkummar Rao, an actor who gets into the skin of movie character and pours his soul with his realistic acting – it is a perfect combo for a meaningful movie. From the trailer of Newton, it seems to be one hell of a movie.

The title ‘Newton’ might make you think that this would be some sci-fi story related to Sir Isaac Newton, but let me tell you – it is no science. In fact, the entire movie is based on one simple idea – if you don’t change nothing, nothing will change; so simple, yet so deep. This movie is actually targeted to mass awareness towards election and it is really for you if you skip voting in elections. Movies focussing awareness and aiming to pass on a simple, strong and much-needed message seems to have become a trend in Bollywood after Akshay Kumar’s recent movie Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.

Rajkummar Rao, the guy is known for his terrific performance, even if he isn’t the lead actor – the latest proof is his recent act in the movie Bareilly Ki Barfi; and to our joy, he is back with his epic performance as glimpsed in the trailer of Newton. In the first trailer of upcoming movie, Rao plays the character of a rookie yet honest clerk who is on election duty in a conflict-ridden jungle area of Chhattisgarh. His name in the movie is ‘Newton’ – a man of principles, who doesn’t bend to situations and always follows what is right, not just according to him but as per laws of his country.

The entire trailer gives a glimpse of how the movie will make a wake-up call to every Indian who does not consider his right to vote as an important duty. The trailer exposes the real picture of how some people don’t turn up to vote for their choice of candidate under the fear of losing lives and eventually become entirely powerless. The movie is a strong reminder of how voting is in our hands, and just our very own hands – and it has the power to change everything, because the power is to us.
