Reliance Jio, after triggering cut-throat war in the Indian cellular network market, is not ready to stir up price war in the broadband market with its plans to plan a new plan – home broadband offering 100GB for Rs 500.

Reliance Jio Infocomm which compelled all the telco giants in India to cut-short calling and mobile internet prices to an extent that nobody may have imagined. It even made two of the top telco companies – Idea and Vodafone to merge. Now supposedly, the mobile network game is getting monotonous for Jio, so they are planning to come up with – JioFiber broadband service for homes will likely be launched around Diwali, and the company plans to offer data at rates that could disrupt the home broadband market.

As per reports, the base pack from JioFiber is likely to be 100GB of data for Rs 500 which will definitely jiggle-wiggle-shake the broadband market because other companies are currently offering half of that data at almost double price. And this is not just the other rumour floating around on internet, nah-nah, in fact Reliance Jio’s Twitter handle had tweeted, “The JioFiber Preview Offer has currently been launched in select areas of Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat and Vadodara. Our network is in the process of being rolled out to other cities.”

The only challenge for the killer-price telco is to get permission for JioFiber to get into the gated colonies of broadband network. While the exact date of launch of JioFiber remains unknown, it is said that it is likely to be introduced by Diwali this year. And there’s no doubt the company is going to go for the disruptive pricing model, just like it did with the Jio mobile network. And with 100GB data at Rs 500 for fixed lines at home, it could cause new disruption in the market. So let’s hold on till Diwali to see what is the next jolt from Jio.
