With the aspiration to promote yoga and endeavour to make it a part of everyone’s daily routine for a healthy life, the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) stepped up along the whole world to celebrate International Yoga Day today, but with a techy touch.
Today, 21 June is glorified as International Yoga Day which is the brainchild of PM Narendra Modi and it is celebrated internationally since its inception in 2015. The core motive behind Yoga Day is to promote yoga practice and make it a routine for a healthier, fitter and better lifestyle. Not missing the chances, many cities across the country and even abroad organised local early-morning events to preach about yoga and conduct open yoga performances.
Everyone bends and bows in the honour of Yoga Day, but Rajkot city of Gujarat, better dubbed as ‘Rangeelu Rajkot’ which roughly translates to ‘vivid Rajkot’ had to stand out from the rest when it comes to celebrating events, as always. The Rajkot Municipal Corporation hosted a yoga event which was studded by dignitaries like RMC Commissioner Banchha Nidhi Pani and well-known singer Kirtidan Gadhvi. And to add the Rajkotian touch, RMC launched a mobile application which serves pretty much like a yoga dictionary withholding all the details of yoga asanas to guide you for a perfect yoga session, every day. The application named YogPrayog is developed by an eminent software company – Multiicon and is available for free download, ready to become your perfect yoga guide.
Under the cloudy, hazy morning sky of Rajkot, hundreds of yoga aspirants including men and women, young and old, flocks of school kids and groups of senior citizens preformed yoga at the Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Ground under guidance of expert yoga tutors. And with the perfect amalgamation of years old traditional yoga practice and the strong backing modern technology to bolster the tradition, justifying the Yin Yang philosophy, the event was an awe-inspiring success.
