After being in a decade long relationship with fellow badminton player Parupalli Kashyap, Saina Nehwal finally opened up about their plans to get married and declared the wedding date to be December 16 this year – because that is the “only day she could marry”.
Talking about her constructive relationship and rapport with the famous player Kashyap, Saina says that they’ve been knowing each other since 2007. However, it began with a selfless friendship of the fellow players sharing with and caring for each other. Eventually, they decided to enter a new phase of romantic relationship, which was a struggle as their careers are highly demanding and competitive. When asked about how did they confess their love in front of their parents, Saina told that their chemistry was so much visible to their parents that there was no actual need of formally informing them and marriage was an obvious event everyone had considered from long time
However, the duo believes that keeping their relationship secret was good as they wouldn’t want to attract the limelight to their relationship rather than their game. But now that they have officially declared their relationship and plans to get married, Saina opened up about when they will get married. In a media interview, Saina said that it is the right time for her to get married and December 16 is the only day she could marry on, because will get busy with the Premier Badminton League from December 20 and then qualifiers for the Tokyo Games will begin.
While Saina Nehwal is a bit worried about upcoming responsibilities but she thinks that it’s the right time to get married as she didn’t want to speed up before the CWG and Asian Games. Talking about how Kashyap always supports her, Saina said that, “We keep pushing each other. He is actively playing. But now he is getting into coaching so that he can help me.”
