Indian badminton players Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth have entered quarter-finals in their respective categories at the All England Open 2019 badminton championships, after beating their contenders in second round on Thursday.
Saina Nehwal displayed her strong character and is back with her gutsy style as she stormed into the women’s singles quarterfinal in the All England Badminton Championship after displaying an impressive grit against Line Kjaersfeldt of Denmark. With a score of 8-21, 21-16, 21-13 in the women’s singles second round, Nehwal booked her ticket for the quarterfinals at All England Open 2019 being played in Birmingham. For the next run, Saina is will face a major challenge as she will take on two-time champion Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei, an opponent who defeated her in last 12 matches.
While in the men’s section, Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth recovered from a mid-game slump to register a 21-17 11-21 21-12 win over Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie in men’s singles. And for Kidambi too, the quarterfinal run will be a gritty challenge as he gets ready to face world no 1 Kento Momota of Japan, who has beaten the Indian five times last season.
