Virtual digital assistants are so in vogue these days and Samsung has got its own VA too, Bixby cutesby, well, just Bixby. And it is believed that Samsung will be launching the next version of Bixby next week at their developer conference in San Francisco.
With prominent players like Siri, Google Assistant and Alexa already on board, Samsung Bixby digital assistant wasn’t exactly greeted with the enthusiasm that Samsung might have hoped, when it was launched for the first time. As a matter of fact, Bixby is yet to offer a critical functionality that Google Assistant – which comes default with android phones, does not. On the positive side, the South Korean tech giant is already looking to change things with version 2.0 of Bixby that is now said to be announced on October 8 at Samsung’s developer conference in San Francisco.
Bixby, which was launched earlier this year, along with Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, will soon receive improvements to stand out among its competitors. Not a lot is known about Bixby 2.0 as of the moment, although it’s being said that Samsung’s take two on a virtual assistant would allow for integration with third-party products and services like smart TVs and speakers. This would make it compete somewhat with other assistants out there that have been around for some time and also tend to offer more in terms of all-round usage.
Counting some of the outweighing features of Bixby, it responds to both touch and voice and has ability to translate as many as 52 languages; which, by the way, is limited to just 30 for Apple’s Siri. Bixby’s Voice function is expected to integrate Samsung features including Camera, Contacts, Gallery, Messages and Settings. And to make it standout from others, Samsung will have to introduce it with a bling feature that would help Bixby to bling among others.
