The South Korean car maker Hyundai has been in the Indian automobile market since years and some of their budget-friendly and efficient cars are loved by Indian car users – one of which was the Santro. Years after discontinuing the sale of these cars, Hyundai has now launched the latest version of one of the most loved small cars in India – the new Santro.
Hyundai launched the hatchback car Santro several years ago, and it became one of the most loved pocket-friendly family car in Indian automobile market. After launching few versions, Hyundai decided to discontinue the sale of Santro as new models were coming up. Years after the discontinuation, yesterday Hyundai launched an all-new model of Santro in India and the face of the launch was Hyundai Brand Ambassador Shah Rukh Khan. On the first day of the launch, Hyundai received around 23,500 unit bookings and is already booked for three months production, in order to fulfill all these deliveries.
About the features and specs of all new Santro, it is built using the all-good K1 platform and will come in 1 and 1.1-litre petrol engine variants; and it will also be available in a factory fitted CNG option. The petrol engine generates 69 PS of power and 99Nm of torque, while CNG engine delivers 59Ps power and 84Nm of torque. And, keeping up with the trend of auto-gear transmission, the new car will be equipped with automatic transmission for ease of driving – in selected variants. The fuel efficiency of this new Santro will be around 20 kilometers per liter for 1.1-litre petrol engine, while it will deliver around 30.5-kilometer fuel efficiency per Kilogram in CNG variant.
Besides mechanical updates, the Santro will have features like air conditioning vents, 17.64 centimeters of touchscreen multimedia system for the entertainment, voice recognition system and rear parking camera. Loaded with safety features like ABS and EDS, as well as driver’s seat bags, it already meets with the pedestrian safety norms and provides more compared to those available in the market at the same price. The basic model of the new Santro will start from around 3.7 to 3.8 lakhs and it will range upto 5 lakhs for the top model, which is actually a steal considering all the tons of features.
