The veteran Bollywood actress and first female superstar of the film industry, Sridevi, passed away suddenly on February 24 after a fatal mysterious drowning accident while attending Mohit Marwah’s wedding in Dubai. The news left the entire film industry and entertainment fraternity in shock and sorrow – followed by an extreme downpour of tributes from one and from all celebrities and her fans. However, there will be one last time, we all will be able to see her on the silver screen.
Sridevi, the legendary actress who has appeared in more than 100 films and has gained herself the feat of becoming the first female superstar in Bollywood – passed away on Saturday after suffering from a drowning accident. Aged 54, Sridevi was attending the wedding of her nephew Mohit Marwah in Dubai with her husband Bonny Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi Kapoor. The actress was found unresponsive in bathtub after she went to freshen up before her dinner date with her husband at about 11 PM on February 24. The news of her demise spread across the nation and Bollywood, leaving her huge fan base and entertainment fraternity in deep shock.
The superstar had rose to fame back in 1983 with her Bollywood hit Himmatwala, after which she had appeared in more than 100 movies and more than 300 movies with her credits, during the course of her glamorous career. Her recent films including Mom which was released in 2017, received several accolades for Sridevi’s performance in the movie. However, that wouldn’t be the last time we may get to see Sridevi on the silver screen as she will appear in cameo in Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film Zero. Not that it would be enough, but it will certainly be one last chance to see her on screen. Sridevi will be seen playing a cameo role with SRK, Alia Bhatt and Karishma Kapoor in film Zero, to be released by the end of this year.
Upon receiving the sorrowful news, fellow Bollywood celebrities poured in with tweets and posts, paying tributes to the late actress – Sridevi. Prominent actors and actresses paid their tributes to their co-worker, while her fans cannot get over the grim of the news. Sridevi is survived by her husband Bonny Kapoor and two daughters Khushi Kapoor (17) and Jahnvi Kapoor (20). While Sridevi’s elder daughter Jahnvi will soon make her Bollywood debut, she will not have her mother watching her on the 70mm, but she will have her beauty, her grace and her advice, which will, once again, enliven the silver screen – just like her mother did.
