India is all set to inaugurate the pride of our nation, The Statue of Unity. Kevadiya Colony in Narmada district is geared up for the inauguration of the Statue of Unity. India sets the new record of World’s tallest statue, which is dedicated to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This statue is as high as 182 meters, which is the highest ever statue till the date. This statue beast the record of Spring Temple Buddha, located in Henan, China which was 153 meters high.
This record-breaking statue represents the Unity we have, despite being different from social and cultural aspects. This statue is built as a tribute to the Iron man of India, who prevented India from getting divided into smaller nations. That’s why the government decided to pay the tribute for his deeds and built this excellent engineering marvel, the Statue of Unity.
This statue will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi today. Along with some dignitaries, Modi will inaugurate this statue by pressing a lever, which will pour the soil and Narmada water from the ‘Kalash’ on the statue and this is how the ‘Abhishek’ will be done.
To talk about the facts of this statue, it is total 182 meters high, along with the 25 meters pedestal, on which the statue stands. The actual statue is 157 meters high and divided into 5 zones. This statue is the result of 250 engineers and 3400 labours. It took total 3 years and 9 months to get it completed. It is designed to withstand strong winds, as fast as 180 kmph. It can also survive heavy earthquakes. It can withstand the earthquake of 6.5 Richter scale. It is also designed to survive the heavy flood. So, overall, it will survive almost all the natural disaster and stands tall as a sign of “Unity” which Indians have internally.
