Swedish multinational lifestyle and furniture giant IKEA has finally stepped in India, inaugurating its first store in the hi-tech city of Hyderabad – with a humongous 4 lakh square feet mega-store on August 9, 2018.
The Swedish company has been planning this venture since last 12 years and have brought it to life on today, August 9, opening a store occupying a 4 lakh square feet of area in Hyderabad. For opening this store the investment has been as much as Rs. 1000 crore with a permanent staff of 950 people and an indirect working strength of about 1500 people.The CEO of IKEA group, Mr. Jesper Brodin is very much excited to set up IKEA in India and according to his in an interview, “We want to be accessible and from tomorrow we will be accessible in Hyderabad.
Now we will try our best to speed up our expansion to move quicker than normally we do in IKEA” As much as the CEO, Indians are also excited to welcome IKEA in Hyderabad. The store will be open from 10 in the morning to 11 at night, with a large multi cuisine restaurant built inside ( with several dishes of Indian cuisine). They are expecting 60 lakh visitors as they’re providing the best facilities at IKEA.Not only this, but IKEA is also about to open its stores in the cities of Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi after Hyderabad.
The Hyderabad store occupies 13 acres and contains as much as 7500 products out of which around 1000 products will be available for under 200 bucks, as the company itself has declared. The most special feature however, is that the store will be set up as two model houses displaying different room sets for different areas of house, i.e. the bedroom, kitchen, living room etc. Along with that, the store will also have a hall for small items such as doormats, plants, lightings and other home decor, textiles, necessary utensils etc.
