Diving into a new genre of film making to add to the tally of Bollywood movies, the political biopic starring Anupam Kher – The Accidental Prime Minister is about the former PM of India, Manmohan Singh. Before splurging on the tickets, know the characters and reviews of the movie.

Bollywood has already welcomed a movie and web series on the life of a porn star, i.e. Karenjit Kaur, and now it is about the politicians. Two movies are in recent discussions regarding their characters and agenda. One of them is ‘The Accidental Prime Minister” portraying the life of Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India and Anupam Kher will be playing the lead role. The actor says that he has put in a lot of effort to frame the life of Dr. Singh and to resemble his personality as Dr. Singh is a very less expressive person, and that’s what made it difficult for Kher to play his role.

The movie is based on the narrative by Sanjaya Baru, the PM’s media advisor, who was associated for a period of four years with him. He was in association with Dr. Singh from 2004 to 2008 after which he wrote a book having the same name as that of the movie. Sanjaya Baru is played by Akshay Khanna and it is really worth appreciation, while Sonia Gandhi is played by here by German actress Suzanne Bernert. The role of Rahul Gandhi, is played by Arjun Mathur and Aahana Kumra is cast as Priyanka Gandhi. Divya shah, also holds a strong role in the movie by portraying Gurdarshan Kaur, the wife of Dr. Manmohan Singh.

The movie is not a political drama or a heated and twisted one, it’s just that it portrays Singh’s working period in its simplest form. As Sanjaya Baru says Dr. Singh, ‘Writing the truth is necessary for history, but truth has many faces. This book will reflect my truth, and your truth.’ There’s not much entertainment to be expected from the movie, and it may also draw a lot of criticism to the actors and director. But for the fans of politics, The Accidental Prime minister is surely a one time watch.
