The rankings are based on the data provided by municipal corporations, independent assessors and feedback from people. In all, 3.7 million citizens participated in the exercise. Here is the list of top 10 cleanest cities of India.

Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said while announcing the list that, “Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh are the movers and shakers of the ongoing drive”. Noting a remarkable improvement in the cities of Gujarat and Chhattisgarh. He said the combined efforts of each and every citizen involved in the Swachh Bharat mission has given it the shape of a ‘mahayagya‘, adding that making the country clean by 2019 is a serious part of mission Modi.

Naidu said that Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have shown very promising results with accounting for 50 of the cleanest cities on the list. Gujarat had the most, 12 clean cities, closely trailed by Madhya Pradesh with 11 cities.

So has your city not made it to the list? Are you upset about it? Well, just sitting hand on hand waiting for your surroundings to get cleaner is definitely not a solution. Go ahead and put your efforts towards cleanliness and hygiene because it is not a personal approach, rather the government and the citizens will have to work together to fight the battle against filth and don’t forget the environment! Let India be clean, let India be green.
