What a FIFA finale! What a game! The football World Cup 2018 was, by no means a regular football match. From bidding early goodbye to Brazil, Portugal and Argentina to the emerging Croatia in finale playing against France for the World Cup, all uncanny. The end of the adrenaline-filled FIFA was in the name of France that overpowered over Croatia with an unbeatable score of 4-2.

The epic FIFA tournament that started with the names of Ronaldo and Messi ended on Sunday with the name of Kylian Mbappe, emerging 19-year-old French forward. With goals from Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba and an own-goal by Croatian player Mario Mandzukic, France ended Croatia’s FIFA dream with a score of 4-2 to win the FIFA World Cup 2018. Perhaps, this season can be called to be one of the most entertaining FIFA games and an adrenaline-filled final with goals raining all over the arena at Luzhniki Stadium on Sunday.

France saw a lead in the first half with an own-goal from Mario Mandzukic and a goal from Antoine Griezmann, meanwhile Ivan Perisic netted a goal for the first-time finalist Croatia. Quickfire strikes by Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe in the second half lifted the French spirits high and confident. However, an unexpected goal from Mario Mandzukic gifted after a steeping mistake by the French goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris – rising hopes for Croatia with a score of 4-2 in the last 20 minutes. France, however, withstood a spirited Croatia assault in last 15 minutes to win the FIFA World Cup 2018 with all the pride, showered in the bliss of nectar-filled rain.

The French, known for its architecture and well-balanced society, lifted the trophy – repeating the triumph 20 years after their first FIFA title in 1998. With the victory, France became the sixth country in entire world to have won two FIFA World Cups. It was the highest-scoring final since England beat West Germany 4-2 after extra-time in 1966 and also the highest in normal time since Brazil beat Sweden 5-2 60 years ago. Perhaps, a record-filled tournament, and an epic finale that will be remembered in years to come; while we can’t stop saying – what a game it was. To France this year.
