Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath expressed deepest condolence and announced to grant ex-gratia worth Rs 2 lakh to the kin of all 13 deceased – including 11 school kids who passed away today morning as their school van was hit by a train at an unmanned railway crossing in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh.
18 children and seven other of the Divine Public School and 7 others were on their way to school today morning when their school van was hit by Thawe-Kapatanganj passenger train at unmanned railway crossing at Behpurva in Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh. The train crashed into the school van during early hours when it was on way to Gorakhpur from Siwan. 13 people including 11 school children passed away on the spot, most of whom were children below the age of 10 years. Other 7 children are reported to be critically injured and are being treated at hospital under intensive care in Uttar Pradesh.
Upon receiving the news, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had rushed to Kushinagar and reached on accident site to provide on-spot assessment. Yogi immediately directed Kushinagar district authorities to provide all necessary medical and financial help to the injured and ensure proper treatment. Expressing deep condolence for the young deceased, Yogi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of each deceased. He also promised to provide immediate and direct inquiry to find out the cause of the sorrowful accident.
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal too expressed sorrow and announced a compensation worth Rs 2 lakh for kin of each deceased in the accident. He said, “I received the unfortunate news of the death of school children. I have asked senior officials to conduct a probe into the incident. Railways will give a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of the dead over and above the aid announced by the Uttar Pradesh government.” PM Modi too expressed his condolence towards the families of the children and victims who passed away in the Kushinagar accident and ensured that the state government and railway ministry will take all necessary steps.
