Rajnikanth said, “When there were two strong leaders like Jayalalithaa and Karunanidhi, there was no vacuum… Tamil Nadu needs a leader and I have come to fill in.” While he made clear about his intentions of filling the reign left by former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa, he promised for a political brand of himself that offers “spiritual” politics was “clean, transparent governance.”

He was the inspiration that many acting professionals and icons take plunge into politics in the state and try to follow his footsteps. Not missing the chance being at the MGR Educational and Research Institute, Rajnikanth made a fierce thought-provoking speech with an aim to address the MGR legacy. The veteran superstar said, “Many say all can’t become MGR. Yes, none can become MGR. He’s a yuga purush. But I have the confidence that I can give MGR’s good governance.” With huge political plans, Rajnikanth, the on-screen superstar is trying out to become the saviour in real life.
The 67-year-old actor had announced in December that he will launch a political party and will contest in elections for all 234 assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu’s assembly election in 2021. The political party will be launched under the leadership of Rajnikanth, but no specification about the dates of launch are mentioned. Also, the actor refused to say if he or his party will contest the national election in 2019. There are even possibilities of alliance between Rajnikanth and his friend and contemporary Kamal Haasan who has recently joined politics after the launch of his political party Makkal Needhi Maiam in Madurai. However, what happens next? Not even Rajnikanth himself has the answers and “Only time can tell.”
