YouTube, the good old massive video-sharing website is spending literally millions to start a new slate of ad-supported original programs so that viewers can watch and enjoy 40 original shows for free, without any subscription. The video mammoth is now planning to launch original series featuring celebrities and some of YouTube’s biggest creators which can be watched free.

Google’s YouTube is generally known as a huge video library and a go-to place for all sorts of videos free-for-all but it has always lacked behind when it comes to watching TV shows. But since other rival ventures are into extensive high-quality programming and services, it was about right time for YouTube to take a step ahead.

So great news for everyone, YouTube will feature more than 40 original shows and movies in upcoming year and as per internal spokespersons, the company is spending millions of dollars for making all the planning real. YouTube has partnered with high-profile celebrities like comedian Kevin Hart, Ellen DeGeneres and the comedy duo Rhett & Link are producing unscripted shows that will debut this year.

Other new shows include a talent competition called “Best Cover Ever” produced by Ryan Seacrest, shows from Ellen DeGeneres and Demi Lovato and a Katy Perry live special. In addition, Rhett and Link and the Slow Mo Guys — who got their start on YouTube — will get a series.

YouTube will partner with comedian Kevin Hart on a new series called “Kevin Hart: What the Fit” which will be available on YouTube without the YouTube Red Subscription; this is the company’s another try for a huge expansion Google-owned company’s programming and efforts to attract advertisers. So get ready for getting used to watching TV shows on YouTube. Yay!
